Less of Form...formless
“How are you feeling?” started the conversation for Rajesh.
Dilip replied, “Nothing good”.
Their learned friend standing by the side switched the awareness…
…nothing good
…no thing is good
…all things are not good
…all things that matter are not good
…all things that matter are not giving the matterless-the good
…all matters are not giving the matterless
…all forms failing the formless.
For all the formless to exist, there is a form that delivers the emotion or experience. For example…redness which is a formless quality cannot exist without a matter or form which carries the redness. Redness waves need the form for the necessary qualia or subjective experience.
It is said in wisdom scriptures that one should constantly carry feelings/formlessness of happiness, purity, bliss, peace, love, power of will, compassion. A deep inquiry sets a question as to
-where do we carry this? And an integral question is, “ is this feeling the effect we look for or the cause that will lead to something?”
Since endless inquiries and observations have revealed that subjective or formless or matterless cannot exist without object or form or matter, one has to intentionally (Sankalp …intention) to attach these good-formless to all things in his or her awareness.
For example, if the targets are not being met. One can look at the situation and get hassled, lose balance (Sthirta) and thereby take his temple (body) into dangers of frustration, jealousy, wrong means, distractions.
However if one looks at the same situation with the qualia of happiness …Adbhuta rasa sets in…to intentionally look for wonderment in the situation and look for the
- ascharyavath srunoti (wonderment or innovation in the speech of the others…(once a boss was reprimanding the junior over missing the target and he fired word-laden-missiles …but the junior was patiently listening and he caught the wonder-word…”the customers have got bored of the product…they are not able to experience delight…their expectation of safety and protection is not being met”….the aware junior caught on to this and went on to make super innovation in the product and the service.”
- ascharyavath Pashyati (wonderment in seeing)… Once a man struggling with his profession, entered his storage area and found lot of rats. This man then went on to make “rats” as his source of inspiration and we all know the company as Walt Disney.
मैत्री करुणा मुदितोपेक्षाणांसुखदुःख पुण्यापुण्यविषयाणां भावनातः चित्तप्रसादनम्
Maitrī karuṇā mudito-pekṣāṇāṁ-sukha-duḥkha puṇya-apuṇya-viṣayāṇāṁ bhāvanātaḥ citta-prasādanam
Anchoring back, the subjective or formless or matterless have to be carried and attached to as many things we experience around us (whether responding to something or initiating something).
As for whether it should be the effect or the cause…I think it should be given a place just next to “breath”. Just like breath or “prana”can be engineered as “pranayama” (Yama means the disciplines…hence discipline of breath is pranayama)… so should be disciplining and imbibing these emotions of maitri (friendship), karuna (forgiveness, compassion), mudito (cheerfulness), upeksha (forbearance to opposite outcomes in life).
Formless precedes the form,
Formless succeeds the form,
More of the form or less of the form?
Formless is the Norm.
Events come and go,
Moments come and go,
Matters comes and go,
Formless stays and does all the show.
Formless can be good ones,
Formless can be bad ones,
Needless is to mention,
Which ones divide and which ones make us all ones.
Target is the form.
Underachievement of target is as per collective perception of onlookers.
However, making this underachievement a cause of suffering is in ones hands…minds.
As said by a very wise person…we don’t live in this world….we live in our minds.
Also as said by Kabir…Mann ke haar haar hai, Mann ke jeet jeet (if we let The Mind say that it is failure then it’s a failure but if we train the mind to look positively then it may turn into victory)
