High-low Silos
“let’s quickly leave” quipped Chandi.
Nandy smiled “why don’t we just stay a bit and help Kishan”.
Chandi’s mind which had already left the office was annoyed at being called back. “Why should I bother? It’s not my job. Besides it doesn’t figure in my KPI”.
“My job is different from your job and I would do my bit and move on”…is the common attitude at most workplaces. Many a times this very approach also leads to dismal understanding about the fact that while each department has to be named differently and having specific objectives, it is intricately, un-removably intertwined with other department.
Some Ancient scriptures talk about a philosophy of non-dualism which means that
…there is no distinction between the self (purusham) and the nature/universe (prakriti) or
…in other words the subject-object experience that makes up all our experiences are one (this is even revealed in the latest scientific leap called qualia which means that ultimately all experience in the world are subjective experience of all objects and subjects).
And this non-dualism presupposes that each purusham or being is also divinely not separate from the other.
Also one community should not see itself different from the other.
Deepak Chopra calls this as universal entanglement where each person’s -thoughts-actions are entangled with the other. This is at different levels of awareness. One where one’s opinions-choices are influencing the others. The other is at the level where he says that every year a quadrillion micro-atom passes through each person’s body. Many of these remain the same floating stock passing each body.
If we take this argument back in the stadium of corporate play fields, then we find that each time a work doesn’t get done by somebody and the others just watch by without helping this person, the company has suffered in the circus…something is a miss…something is incomplete…something is deplete. If the company is incomplete, deplete, amiss…then how can every individual in the company demand or even expect completeness, replete ness, fulfilment, wholistic.
Imaging your right hand feeling a bit low and seeking attention, help, a-hand. In this situation if the rest of the body denies attention and self-soothes by saying it can be fine…well! Can it be fine so? I am sure that the answer to this is a plain “no”.
Corporate being a “Being” can experience happiness, bliss, purity, love, peace, power of will only if it’s constituent give and take these qualities. Silos result in bottlenecking …strangle-necking the Corporate “Being” much like tight locking of one of the limbs from the rest of the body and thereby causing complete fatality.
Communities world over and time over have existed and thrived by division of labor (minding it that it doesn’t result in division of dignity) .
Division+division….di(vision) +di(vision)..,the(vision). All divisions have to come together to make the vision a reality.
Be highs or be it lows,
Be never the killer…the silos.
